Cheddar Bacon Turkey Dogs

Turkey Dogs

8 Butterball Turkey Franks8 hot dog buns2 Red Anaheim peppers, finely chopped1 bunch scallion, thinly sliced454g bacon sliced and rendered until crispy

Cheddar Sauce

¼ cup butter¼ cup flour2 cups milk2 cups cheddar, grated½ tsp. salt¼ tsp. chili powder

Directions

  1. Melt butter over medium heat. Add flour and cook briefly until incorporated. Slowly add milk and whisk, ensuring to mix evenly and remove all lumps from the roux.

  2. Cook for 2 minutes until slightly thickened. Add salt, chili, and cheese and stir off heat until incorporated. Keep warm to keep a nice, viscous consistency.
  3. Create 4 - 5 slits in turkey franks, ensuring not to cut all the way through. Grill on medium heat directly on BBQ until darkened, heated through and nicely coloured.
  4. Slice buns in half and quickly grill until slightly toasted.
  5. Place franks in buns. Top with desired drizzle of cheese sauce. Add peppers, green onion, and even amount of crispy bacon. Enjoy!
