Thanksgiving Dinner for Beginners

Ingredients

Whole Turkey

1 Butterball Turkey, unstuffed3 Tbsp canola oil 

Pommes Aligot (Cheesy Mashed Potatoes)

2 lbs yellow flesh potatoes, peeled and steamed 1/2 cup butter, cold and cubed 1 cup gruyere cheese, grated 1 cup Emmental cheese, grated

Garlic Parm Roasted Brussel Sprouts

1 1/2 lbs Brussels Sprouts, peeled and halved 2 Tbsp olive oil1 tsp garlic powder1 tsp onion powder1/2 cup parmesan cheese

Directions

    Whole Turkey

  1. Preheat oven to 325°F/162°C.

  2. Remove thawed or cook-from-frozen turkey from bag. Remove neck from body cavity and giblets from neck cavity.
  3. Place turkey on roasting rack (or create a ring out of tin foil to elevate your turkey) inside a roasting pan.
  4. Brush turkey with oil, and place in oven. Use the Turkey Calculator on butterball.ca to determine cook time based on the weight and type of turkey. 
  5. When ready, check internal temperature—meat thermometer should read 165°F/74°C in the breast and 180°F/82°C in thigh.
  6. Remove turkey from oven and allow to rest for about 15 minutes before carving. Enjoy! 

  7. Pommes Aligot (Cheesy Mashed Potatoes)

  8. Steam potatoes until extremely tender and can pass through a ricer, or mash very well. 

  9. Combine potatoes, butter, cheese, salt and pepper to taste. 
  10. Return mixture to pot and heat on low until cheeses melts and potatoes are gooey and stretchy. Serve right away with freshly sliced chives.  

  11. Garlic Parm Roasted Brussel Sprouts

  12. Combine Brussel Sprouts with oil, garlic powder, onion powder, cheese and salt and pepper to taste. Toss and transfer to a sheet tray. Place in a 400°F/204°C degree oven for 17-20 minutes, or until golden brown and crispy on the edges. 

  13. Top with cheese and enjoy! 

  14. *Serve the whole meal with Butterball Stuffing, gravy, and cranberry sauce.  Enjoy!
