Grilled Sweet and Spicy Turkey Drumsticks

Ingredients

 Select the items you need and print a shopping list.
1 package Butterball Easy Fresh turkey drumsticks (3 drumsticks)

Marinade

3 pieces ginger, skin on, flattened (1 inch x 1 inch pieces)4 cloves garlic, peeled, flattened3 tsp. white sugar1/3 cup soy sauce3 tsp. Sambal Oelek or any hot sauce3 tsp. sesame oil⅛ cup honey

Glaze

1/4 cup honey4 tsp. sesame oil4 tsp. Sambal Oelek or any hot sauce

Directions

  1. Remove Butterball Turkey Drumsticks from Easy Fresh package and pat skin dry with a paper towel. Place drumsticks in an airtight container or plastic resealable zipper storage bag.

  2. On a chopping board, flatten garlic by pressing down on it with the flat part of the knife. Remove garlic peel and discard. Do the same with ginger with skin on.
  3. In a bowl, add all the ingredients for marinade (ginger, garlic, sugar, soy sauce, Sambal Oelek, sesame oil and honey). Mix well until sugar dissolves.
  4. Pour marinade on turkey drumsticks and distribute evenly, until every part of the turkey is coated. Marinate overnight.

  5. Making the glaze

  6. In a bowl, add Sambal Oelek, honey and sesame oil and mix well. Set aside.

  7. Grilling time

  8. Take turkey out of fridge about 45 minutes before grilling to get it up to room temperature. Heat grill to 400 °F.

  9. Place turkey drumsticks on low heat (keep one burner on high heat for indirect heat) and close lid. Turn after 10 minutes and cook with lid down, until internal temperature ofturkey hits 165°F (about 30 minutes in total). Turn turkey earlier or more frequently if required to keep skin from burning.
  10. Plate and rest turkey for 10 minutes. Brush desired amount of glaze on the turkey drumsticks.
